The Troy Chapter of Delta Chi proudly traces its roots to 1965 while continuing a tradition of friendship, character, justice, and education for a new generation of Trojans.

Our Story

The history of Delta Chi at Troy University began in January 1965, when Delta Chi International selected Troy State College as the site of a new expansion effort. Working alongside university leaders and dedicated student volunteers, the Fraternity established a colony of young men committed to building an organization founded on friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service.

After more than a year of planning, recruitment, and preparation, the Troy Chapter was officially chartered on April 2, 1966, becoming only the third active Delta Chi chapter in Alabama, joining the University of Alabama and Auburn University.

Over the next fifty-five years, the Troy Chapter initiated more than 1,000 brothers, whose leadership and service left a lasting impact on Troy University and communities throughout Alabama and beyond.

A Legacy of Leadership

Since 1966, Troy Delta Chi alumni have excelled in business, education, public service, athletics, and the military.

Our alumni include:

• Circuit Court Judges

• Members of the Alabama Legislature

• Troy University Board of Trustees members

• College and university presidents

• PGA Golf Professionals

• Directors of the Sound of the South Marching Band

• Professional baseball players

• Military officers serving in every branch of the United States Armed Forces

These accomplishments reflect the leadership, character, and commitment that have long defined Delta Chi brothers.

Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future

In Spring 2021, the Troy Chapter was closed by Delta Chi International following violations of the Fraternity's Risk Management Policies related to hazing.

While this marked the end of one chapter in our history, it did not erase the positive contributions made by generations of Troy Delta Chi brothers. The chapter's legacy continues through more than 1,000 initiated alumni whose achievements and lifelong commitment to Delta Chi helped shape the organization we know today.

Following the closure, Delta Chi International, Troy University, alumni volunteers, and chapter supporters began working together to prepare for the Fraternity's return. Their shared vision was not simply to restart a chapter, but to establish one built upon accountability, leadership, academic excellence, and the values that have guided Delta Chi since 1890.

The Magnificent Seven

Every chapter has a beginning.

For the Troy State Chapter, that beginning belongs to seven men whose vision and determination transformed a colony into a chartered chapter.

Forever known as The Magnificent Seven, these Founding Fathers established the traditions that would guide the chapter for decades.
